When we launched Moz AI, our goal was to help you do your job better – not just Artificial Intelligence, but Augmented Intelligence. We’re happy to announce the launch of Moz’s AI Content Brief, in beta now and available to all Moz Pro customers! If you're not a customer you can get access with a Moz Pro Free Trial. Content Brief combines the best of Moz’s data and keyword research, LLM-driven features, and your own, human creativity to help you brainstorm and plan effective, search-friendly content.
Your first content brief
Let’s dive right in and create a content brief. Under Keyword Research in the Moz Pro left navigation, you’ll now see an option for AI Content Brief at the bottom, like this:
This will bring you to the main AI Content Brief page, where you can enter a topic, region (currently supporting US, Canada, UK, and Australia) and content type. I’m going to create a blog post brief on the topic “curved monitors”:
Click Generate and you’ll get back an editable content brief that blends Moz’s proprietary metrics and data-driven insights with AI-generated guidance and outlines.
Moz metrics & insights
Anyone with ChatGPT can produce cookie-cutter content, and the internet is covered with the stale crumbs of those results. That’s why we started with our proprietary keyword data and metrics, to provide the insights necessary for you to create high-value content.
Primary search intent
Should you be targeting Informational, Commercial, Transactional, or Navigational content? Our ML-powered search intent engine, trained on real Google results, will let you know.
Keywords to focus on
A topic isn’t just a keyword – it’s an entire cluster of related keywords. Our AI Content Brief retrieves relevant keyword suggestions and metrics to guide your content writing process.
What’s already ranking
Using those keyword suggestions, we analyze relevant Google SERPs and tell you who’s already ranking for the topic. Dive deeper into these pages to see who you’ll be competing against and which pages Google is rewarding with the highest rankings.
Your existing ranking content
What about your own content? If you’re already ranking well on the topic, it might be time to refresh existing content or consolidate multiple pages into one powerhouse page. You can enter a root domain here for deeper analysis (available on export):
We use all of this data and real SERP insights to generate LLM prompts for the next part of the process, to provide additional, AI-driven guidance and a content framework.

AI guidance & outlines
We designed Moz’s AI Content Brief to let LLMs do what they do best—produce natural-language guidance and summaries, built on a core foundation of strong data. You’re in control, and all of these sections are fully editable before you export your final brief.
Target audience(s)
Who is the audience for your topic, and what do they want? In this example, we get:
- Gamers seeking immersive experiences
- Professionals needing better productivity
- Tech enthusiasts exploring new displays
Pick the best audience for your goals and craft your content with them in mind.
Sample summary
This provides a brief summary proposal, appropriate for use in your meta description.
Suggested content structure
Now, on to the fun stuff. Our AI Content Brief will suggest an outline with five main headings and three subheadings per main heading. Add, remove, and edit subheadings as needed for your final content brief. Here’s an example of two main headings:
The outline provides a framework, but the next two sections are designed to fuel your human creativity and make your content more unique and compelling.
Key questions to consider
This covers some key questions your target audience might be interested in. As a writer and a reader, it’s sometimes easier to wrap our heads around questions.
Key questions can also give you food for thought about subsections you might want to cover, like features and benefits, comparisons, or possible audience angles.
Interesting facts to consider
Finally, we provide you with some facts to spice up your content, or just to get your (or your team’s) brain in gear as you start writing.
You don’t need to cover all of these, of course, but any given fact can spark new ideas or give you research areas to dive deeper into to make your content really stand out.
Export & start writing!
Finally, you can export your brief to a formatted PDF or DOCX document for easy reference or to hand off to another member of your team. Here’s a sample of the PDF version:
Exporting makes your final result professional and easy to share via email, Slack, etc.
Your existing content
If you entered a domain in the previous step, your export will also contain this section:
For our sample “curved monitors” brief, I’ve chosen PCMag (one of our Ziff Davis sister companies). Now, you can see which pages you’re already ranking for on this topic, and decide whether it’s time to rewrite or consolidate some of your existing content.
Try more content types
Finally, you might decide to take this journey in a new direction and try a different content type. In addition to a standard blog post, you can choose:
- How-to Guide
- Product or Service Page
- Case Study
- Opinion/Editorial
Decide which option best suits your topic and goals, or try out a couple of them. Each of these gives the LLM a nudge, taking your content brief in a slightly different direction.
Choose your content adventure
Your workflows, like your content, are unique, and we wanted to give you the flexibility to choose your own path. If you’re researching a keyword in Keyword Explorer, you’ll see this floating navigation at the bottom, which includes Create Content Brief:
This will take you to a quicker version of the tool (without editing options):
You can also launch a brief from multiple keywords. Let’s say I wanted to focus primarily on 4K monitors for gaming. I could just select the keywords that interest me the most and then generate a brief from the same floating navigation bar:
If you’d prefer to save and edit your keywords, just. Save to keyword list, and you’ll be able to create a content brief directly from your saved lists.
Our data, your intelligence
Moz’s AI Content Brief combines the best of our data and Google SERP insights, AI’s ability to summarize natural language concepts, and your experience and creativity, empowering you to create high-performing content that can win rankings. Time to start writing, and we’ll see you in the search results!
