I did some keyword research in order to do some onsite optimization on a travel industry-related website.

I found 2 kinds of relevant keywords:

      • 'flight'-related keywords (e.g.: flight chicago dallas)
      • 'airplane ticket'-related keywords (e.g.: airplane ticket chicago dallas)

Competition is the same on both but the first ones have more volume. So I'm really tempted to go with the 'flight'-related keywords.

However the 'airplane ticket'-related keywords also have an interested volume so how should I do my onsite optimization.

So each one of this solution do you think is the best:

      • creating one page targeting the 'flight' and 'airplane tickets'-related keywords knowing isn't a good practice targeting two different keywords ?
      • creating two different pages (one targeting 'flight' and the other one targeting 'airplane tickets') but it isn't very relevant for visitors since both pages are proposing the same offer? also it might have some duplicate content issue.
      • creating one page targeting 'flight' and forget about 'airplane tickets' and missing some opportunities ?
      • creating one page targeting 'flight' and adding some 'airplane tickets' keywords in content and hoping to get some 'airplane tickets' keywords traffic ?

Thank you in advance for your feedback and sharing your experience in the same kind of issue.

        Hey Dmitrii,

I definitely go with your recommandation. it's the most logical way to do in order to maximise visibility on both targeted keywords. thanks a lot for your return 🙂

Your 1st solution is what I would do, personally.

An example page title (off the top of my head) could be: "Cheap Airplane Tickets on Chicago Dallas Flights" or something like that. You don't necessarily need the exact query string to rank.

I would create a really great landing page (with your target keywords), and then create helpful and interesting blog posts that link to it. For example:

            • "What to Expect on Your Flight from Chicago to Dallas"
            • "Do Cheap Airplane Tickets for a Chicago-Dallas Flight Still Exist?"
            • etc.

I would be careful when creating multiple pages to target specific keywords on each, especially when the keywords and the intention behind them is so similar (people looking for "airplane tickets" are most likely looking for "flights", and vice versa).

              Hello, my friend.

I say go with with first solution - target both keywords, because they are very much related and you can very much naturally bond them. It's not the best practice if you're trying to target two non-related keywords on the same page, when they shouldn't even be on the same page. In your case it's not an issue whatsoever.

              Cheers.

Inconsistent Keyword Search Volume & Difficulty Across Tools (e.g., Moz, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, Semrush)

                keyword difficulty keyword explorer

Hi there, Moz Community! I'm reaching out for some guidance on keyword research discrepancies. I'm currently targeting the keyword "sui gas bill" for my blog, sngplbill, which focuses on information related to Sui gas bills. I've used several keyword research tools, including Moz, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, and Semrush, and each platform provides different search volume and keyword difficulty scores: Moz: No search volume data, Keyword Difficulty (KD) 24
Google Keyword Planner: Search volume 100k-1M, Difficulty (Low)
Semrush: Search volume 90k, KD 31
                Ahrefs: KD 1 (Very Easy)
These varying results are causing some confusion. Ideally, I'd like to understand which platform offers the most reliable data for search volume and keyword difficulty. Here are some additional details that might be helpful: My target location: Pakistan My Questions: What factors might contribute to these discrepancies in keyword data across different tools?
Considering my niche (Sui gas bill information in Pakistan), which platform would you recommend for the most accurate search volume and keyword difficulty estimates?
Are there any additional factors to consider beyond search volume and keyword difficulty when selecting keywords for content strategy?
Any insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

How to Find a Competitor's Target Keyword for a Particular Webpage

I understand how to do basic keyword research and how to review a competitor's code (meta tags, etc.). But what is the best method for finding out what a competitor's target keyword is for a particular web page? For example, the URL www.example.com/about-us, what is the best method for finding out what their target keyword is? I have been using a keyword density tool to run the URLs and find the keyword or phase that appears most often but would think there is a better way?

Bye Bye Keyword Difficulty Tool :(

So the Keyword Difficulty Tool will be retired from the end of this month. Is anyone else worried about this? - because I just don't trust the numbers coming back from Keyword Explorer. Never have. I've even raised this with Moz staff previously, when there was a huge difference between the score given by the keyword difficulty tool vs keyword explorer. From what I see in Domain and Page authority and in the SERPs then the score from keyword difficulty tool, was always more accurate, and thankfully have been able to use both tools, but from next month I feel somewhat uneasy about solely relying on the score from Keyword Explorer. Thoughts? and feel free to run your own tests on keywords and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

                Multilingual keyword research

Does anyone have any experience in multilingual SEO? We are looking for software that conducts research for GEO Locations such as UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan & India. Writing content for each of these countries is difficult unless we speak their language, we could look at outsourcing the translation but conducting keyword research for each location is almost impossible.

How to finalize the keywords for SEO?

Hi, I use the following method for keyword research: Create a long raw list of keywords. Use Google AdWords Keyword tool to find monthly searches. Find raw competition. Find direct competition (via allinanchor: search operator) Calculate KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) Calculate KOI (Keyword Opportunity Index) Is there any other (better) way to execute the keyword research? Or is finalizing/selecting the keywords only on the basis of monthly searches sufficient? In short, how to select the best keywords from a long list? Thanks & Regards

                Keywords for fabrication (welding) company??

I've been tasked with finding the keywords for our website.  The difficulty I'm finding is receiving help from the fabrication personal to suggest keywords.  I'm not sure if its peoples imagination or if there's a general unwillingness. Can anyone make any suggestions here?  Is there a fabrication or welding keyword database I can put to them and hopefully get their brains working? Or even a way to see what keywords our competitors use?

                Keywords + Country?

Hey guys, Let's say that I'm doing on-site SEO for a website that sells football shirts. This website targets 5 different countries. We only have a .com domain and no other country specific domains will be added at this point. When I choose the keywords, do I opt for product name + country or only product name? football shirts france or football shirts? Some info: Countries have been added in the title of the pages. Countries appear in the footer. Thank You.

How do you optimize for compound keywords

What is the best way to handle keywords like "switchplate covers"? The key word may be seen as either a 2 or 3 word phrase, depending how you handle the compound term: "switch plate" or "switchplate" In google KW it shows different results for switch plate vs switchplate as well as using cover vs covers. I've tried using all the variations in my descriptions, titles and H2s  but I think this is diluting them all.  Can anyone show me best practice guidelenes or examples of good solutions to these kinds of compound key words? Thanks Handcrafter
