Google analytics '"not provided" is driving me insane. Can anyone recommend a half decent analytics program that will not clog up my site.
I cant help but feel that Google are devaluing their own product as more and more people switch to chrome and are encouraged to use a logged in account. For me it makes analytics about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

While you can't see this data in Google Analytics, you can see it in Google Webmaster Tools. That said, I know what you mean; I'd love to be able to see it directly in GA (or some other analytics tool).

Thanks Keri, Good to know that before I start installing different software. I do like analytics. Its just so annoying how Google bangs on about openness and transparency and then starts disguising its own stats, and IMHO totally devaluing GA in doing so.

So sorry to report that it's not going to be that easy. Google isn't passing along that data, no matter what analytics program is used. Webtrends, etc. isn't going to give you this information either because Google is just not sending it; it's not that GA is suppressing it.

I have heard good things about Webtrends but it's going to cost you, and implementation is doubtful if your site doesn't receive a certain amount traffic). I've used Clicktracks a little. Our IT guy loves it and the marketing team prior to my arrival hated it, so there is definitely some dissent there. Woopra is also a possibility, but Google Analytics is way better.
I had a painful (and very expensive) implementation experience with Coremetrics. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone under any circumstances.
I totally agree with your comment about Google devaluing their own product. I can only think of one reason why they would go ahead with their "not provided" plans....and that is that they are planning on charging for analytics data that will include the "not provided" keywords (and we'll all be queueing up to give them our $$$).
I am interested to hear from those using Omniture, with which I have no experience.

Depends on your needs - I use statcounter.com for simple sites . for more full on sites- Look as Kissmetrics (has some very key metrics for customer tracking)

How to change domains in Google Analytics without losing the data
Hi there, We recently changed our domain from .COM to .NET so that all our subdomains from external pages matched. Right now in Google Console we have our new .NET website being tracked, but in GA we are still tracking .COM. It is also causing issues with MOZ crawling our site because of the .COM/.NET discrepancy. My question is what is the best way to change our Google Analytics from .COM to .NET without losing historical data and what considerations do we need to change before implementing this? Our team was concerned that just downloading the old data would be too vast and it we wouldn't be able to continue manipulating it dynamically in GA. Thanks!!

How does Google Maps/G+ traffic show up in Analytics?
Hi Moz Community, I've been trying to figure out how traffic from Google Maps (and G+) shows up in Google Analytics and am struggling to find a good answer online. If someone finds a business through Google Maps and then clicks on the website in the Maps listing, does that show up as a referral from Google Maps? Our site shows virtually zero traffic from Google Maps even though we have a number of listing. Two related questions: if someone clicks through to a G+ page from a Maps result and then visits our website from the G+ page, does that show up in Analytics as a referral from G+? Is traffic from Google Maps or G+ ALSO counted as organic traffic? (Would it be possible to accidentally double-count a visit as both organic and a referral from Maps/G+? Thanks everybody!

Help With Understanding Chrome Web Store Analytics
Hi all, our website Creately is listed in the Chrome Web Store. Its not an extension or an app, but just a link to app which users can use to quickly log into the app and start drawing their diagrams. They do provide you a way to add Google Analytics to track some visitor data like user visits. But we want to figure out from which sections of Chrome Web Store is sending us traffic. When looking at the Source/Medium reports I can see the following. chrome-ntp-icon / (not set) chrome-app-launcher / (not set) chrome-ntp-launcher / (not set) chrome-app-launcher-search / (not set) chrome-app-launcher-info-dialog / (not set) I'm guessing these indicate where we're getting the traffic to the Chrome web store page but I can't seem to find any information about what they mean. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to find out who the admin of a Google Analytics account is?
We have a client who has been searching high and low to gain access to the GA account that is tied to their website, but previous agencies keep stating they don't have access. Is there a way to find out who the admins are on a GA account with the tracking number so we can reach out to that person and ask them to admin the client?

Referral Traffic vs. Campaign Traffic in Google Analytics
I have two sites: a blog and an ecommerce site. The blog funnels people to the ecommerce site. In Analytics I'm seeing declines in referral traffic from the blog to the ecommerce site. During the same time I'm seeing an increase in campaign traffic to the ecommerce site, with most campaign traffic coming from the blog. I believe the increase in campaign traffic is largely a result of simply having installed more tracking links. This leads me to believe that the declines I'm seeing in referral traffic is simply a result of the increase in campaign traffic. In other words, what was once counted and reported as being referral traffic is now being counted and reported as campaign traffic. So my question is this: In Google Analytics is campaign traffic ALSO reported as referral traffic, or is campaign traffic reported separately and not duplicated in referral traffic reports? I'll provide a concrete example to make this more clear in case it isn't: Say site X sends 1000 visits each month to site Y. Say 50 of those visits come from a single link on X. If that link is changed so that campaign Z data info added (via the Google URL Builder), would you expect to then see 950 referral visits each month from site X to site Y plus 50 campaign visits to site Y via new campaign Z, or would you continue to see 1000 referral visits plus the new 50 campaign visits? Google Analytics: how many visits from country Google domains?
Hello, I manage a site with visitors from many different countries. With Google Analytics, it is normal to see the number of visitors from each search engine. However, I would like to identify the number of visitors from each Google-search contry domain. How many visitors from Google.com? How many from Google.co.uk. And from Google.co.zm? And so on. Anybody knows if this is possible and if yes, how can it be done? Thank you in advance, Dario
