Adding new categories to my website and getting them ranked
-
Hi,
I currently run a website and have added a couple of new categories lately. The website is Planes Trains Automobiles Co UK.
For example I want to add "Planes for sale" as a new category. What is the best way to go about this? Will each aircraft added add content therefore ranking?
I don't want to approach an SEO company yet as the service would be free for the time being?
Thanks
-
You need to create a new post for each plane you have for sale (unless you've done this already) and the assign the category to each of the posts. Each aircraft added in your case will populate the category page however you should be sure to add unique content to the category page. A good way to do this is to add a category description at the top of the category page. If you're using wordpress then I use the 'all in one category updater' to do this. You obviously need to make sure that the category pages can be indexed by Google and then build quality links to the category page from external websites using a mix of brand, partial match keywords, exact match keywords and url links. The key here is natural variation.

Increase in Rankings, but search visibility is decreasing
I just started updating my site with the very basics, focus keyword, meta description, and page titles. I see that I am going up in my targeted keywords, however my search visibility has dropped from 3.34% to 2.78%. My assumption is that my keyword choice is a little off, however I see that I have increased in keyword rankings and dropped very little in what I was ranking for previously, plus the keyword volume seems relatively the same. In fact I've added far more keywords than I have dropped. Curious why my search visibility has dropped, however my keyword rankings only seem to increase.

SEO impact of redirecting high ranking mirror site to the main website
During SEO audit for a client I noticed that they had over a dozen duplicate websites that are carbon copies of the main website. This was done via CMS platform and DNS. One of the mirror sites has about 400 indexed pages and has Moz DA of 42 and 137k External Equity-Passing Links. Full metrics comparison is attached. I originally planned on doing rel="canonical" on the mirror site but the CMS vendor never even heard of it and is refusing to implement it in the header. My only other option is doing one to one 301 redirects. Since the mirror site ranks well, even competes with main domain for some positions on the 1st page of SERP, what will be the impact after the redirects? Is doing 301's still the best option? Thanks! Will Moving Categories Affect SEO
I recently designed a new website to replace an old site. We managed to hold 90% ranking and traffic by keeping the same URS's and content. Now that we have completed that we are now updating the whole site. It is an commerce website. Some of the items we were selling we are getting from a new vendor. If I move these products from one one vendor to another will this affect SEO? Here is an example. I have a product called "Green Zipper Sweater". This product is Anchored via Manufacturer and Category. The URL and Title Tag are green-zipper-sweater. If the Sweater was made by "Nike Green Sweaters" and our new supplier is "Gap Yellow and Green Sweaters". If I change the the Manufacturer and now put it under "Gap Green and Yellow Sweaters" will this affect my ranking. We are continuing to stock products from the original supplier "Nike Green Sweaters" and we have an aggressive SEO plan and are ranking very well for "Nike Green Sweaters". We also have good product ranking so "Green Zipper Sweater" brings us a lot of traffic. I want to be sure I do not loose ranking for the product page "Green Zipper Sweater" and the Brand "Nike Green Sweaters" Any advice would be appreciated.

A tool to tell a websites estimated traffic
I am new to Moz (as a member), so I am not sure if Moz has a tool that I need. I don't want this post to be about self promotion, so I will keep it short. Our business helps increase conversions and sales for online businesses. Our ideal prospects belongs to some key categories of businesses like ecommerce, saas etc. However, I would like to know the estimated volume of traffic for a website before approaching them and introducing our service. So if there was a tool I could use to estimate the volume of visitors a specific website receives on average a day or month, it would be hugely beneficial.Obviously, these are prospective clients, so we do not have access to their system or their analytics. I just want to get an estimate. So for example, if I entered the domain abc.com into the system, I would hope it could tell me, that abc.com gets an average of 900 unique visitors a day. I don't need too much detail like geographic locations etc, but it would be a bonus having that additional information. I also don't mind paying for a tool that's quality. So it doesn't have to be free.

How do I get a MozRank?
Hi all, Hoping that one of you Guru's might be able to shed a little light for me please. we launched the online arm of our gold bullion business on the 21st of February and I signed up for an account here on the 23rd of Feb. I don't have a MozRank for my site yet and I'd love to get one. The mozbar that I installed shows o linkes from 0 root domains etc. but google webmaster can see links that are inbound to my site. My questions are: Do I have to wait the 45-60 days that I believe it might take SEOmoz to give me a rank- or is there a process that I manually kick off? Is there anything other than google webmaster that I should be looking at to try and make sure that I am on the right track; I'd hate to go 45-60 days in the wrong direction before realising there is an issue. thanks in advance, YGF
