ScreamingFrog won't crawl my site.

Hey guys,
My site is Netspiren.dk and when I use a tool like Screaming Frog or Integrity, it only crawls my homepage and menu's - not product-pages.
Examples
A menu: http://www.netspiren.dk/pl/Helse-Kosttilskud-Blandingsolie_57699.aspx
A product: http://www.netspiren.dk/pi/All-Omega-3-6-9-180-kapsler_1412956_57699.aspxIs it because the products are being loaded in Javascript?
What's your recommendation?All best,

Thank you for this question and the responses because we encountered the same issue; Screaming Frog was only crawling a handful of products out of hundreds, because of JS. We made significant changes to the redirect rules on our dev site, and we want to make sure that the changes will not cause any crawling errors before we deploy to the live site. Is there any way to disable JS just for the purpose of a Screaming Frog crawl?

I'm not sure if this has been fixed already, and thank you for Dan for chiming in, but I was able to crawl around 700 URLs.

Hi Fred,
I haven't performed an extensive check, but the SEO Spider crawls around 35 URLs with /pi/ in the string, which is presumably not all the products on the site

Patrick actually mentions the issue in one of his points above. Essentially it looks like the site uses JavaScript on category pages for products, example - http://www.netspiren.dk/pl/Helse-Homøopati-Allergica-Ron-serien_58721.aspx
If you disable JS in your browser, you'll see a blank page where the products were. Our tool doesn't execute JS, although Google is much smarter and often can.
However, I'll leave you to verify that -

Hi there
It's crawling for me. Here are a list of reasons why ScreamingFrog won't crawl your site:
- The site is blocked by robots.txt. A count of pages blocked by robots.txt is shown in the crawl overview pane on top right hand site of the user interface. You can configure the SEO Spider to ignore robots.txt by going to the “Basic” tab under Configuration->Spider.
- The site behaves differently depending on User Agent. Try changing the User Agent under Configuration->User Agent.
- The site requires JavaScript. Try looking at the site in your browser with JavaScript disabled.
- The site requires Cookies. Can you view the site with cookies disabled in your browser? Licenced users can enable cookies by going to Configuration->Spider and ticking “Allow Cookies” in the “Advanced” tab.
- The ‘nofollow’ attribute is present on links not being crawled. There is an option in Configuration->Spider under the “Basic” tab to follow ‘nofollow’ links.
- The page has a page level ‘nofollow’ attribute. The could be set by either a meta robots tag or an X-Robots-Tag in the HTTP header. These can be seen in the “Directives” tab in the “Nofollow” filter.
- The website is using framesets. The SEO Spider does not crawl the frame src attribute.
- The Content-Type header did not indicate the page is html. This is shown in the Content column and should be either text/html or application/xhtml+xml.
Run through your settings and check and see if you may have turned something on inadvertently that you didn't mean to. One thing you can try, is goto Configuration > Spider and then goto the last option Ignore robots.txt. Click the checkbox and try running it again.
It could just be a slow connection on your end. Give it a few minutes and see if any of the above suggestions work.

Moved company 'Help Center' from Zendesk to Intercom, got lots of 404 errors. What now?
Howdy folks, excited to be part of the Moz community after lurking for years! I'm a few weeks into my new job (Digital Marketing at Rewind) and about 10 days ago the product team moved our Help Center from Zendesk to Intercom. Apparently the import went smoothly, but it's caused one problem I'm not really sure how to go about solving: https://help.rewind.io/hc/en-us/articles/*** is where all our articles used to sit https://help.rewind.io/*** is where all our articles now are So, for example, the following article has now moved as such: https://help.rewind.io/hc/en-us/articles/115001902152-Can-I-fast-forward-my-store-after-a-rewind- https://help.rewind.io/general-faqs-and-billing/frequently-asked-questions/can-i-fast-forward-my-store-after-a-rewind This has created a bunch of broken URLs in places like our Shopify/BigCommerce app listings, in our email drips, and in external resources etc. I've played whackamole cleaning many of these up, but these old URLs are still indexed by Google – we're up to 475 Crawl Errors in Search Console over the past week, all of which are 404s. I reached out to Intercom about this to see if they had something in place to help, but they just said my "best option is tracking down old links and setting up 301 redirects for those particular addressed". Browsing the Zendesk forms turned up some relevant-ish results, with the leading recommendation being to configure javascript redirects in the Zendesk document head (thread 1, thread 2, thread 3) of individual articles. I'm comfortable setting up 301 redirects on our website, but I'm in a bit over my head in trying to determine how I could do this with content that's hosted externally and sitting on a subdomain. I have access to our Zendesk admin, so I can go in and edit stuff there, but don't have experience with javascript redirects and have read that they might not be great for such a large scale redirection. Hopefully this is enough context for someone to provide guidance on how you think I should go about fixing things (or if there's even anything for me to do) but please let me know if there's more info I can provide. Breaking up a site into multiple sites
Hi, I am working on plan to divide up mid-number DA website into multiple sites. So the current site's content will be divided up among these new sites. We can't share anything going forward because each site will be independent. The current homepage will change to just link out to the new sites and have minimal content. I am thinking the websites will take a hit in rankings but I don't know how much and how long the drop will last. I know if you redirect an entire domain to a new domain the impact is negligible but in this case I'm only redirecting parts of a site to a new domain. Say we rank #1 for "blue widget" on the current site. That page is going to be redirected to new site and new domain. How much of a drop can we expect? How hard will it be to rank for other new keywords say "purple widget" that we don't have now? How much link juice can i expect to pass from current website to new websites? Thank you in advance.

Google doesn't index image slideshow

Google cache is showing my UK homepage site instead of the US homepage and ranking the UK site in US
Hi There, When I check the cache of the US website (www.us.allsaints.com) Google returns the UK website. This is also reflected in the US Google Search Results when the UK site ranks for our brand name instead of the US site. The homepage has hreflang tags only on the homepage and the domains have been pointed correctly to the right territories via Google Webmaster Console.This has happened before in 26th July 2015 and was wondering if any had any idea why this is happening or if any one has experienced the same issueFDGjldR

Do 404s really 'lose' link juice?
It doesn't make sense to me that a 404 causes a loss in link juice, although that is what I've read. What if you have a page that is legitimate -- think of a merchant oriented page where you sell an item for a given merchant --, and then the merchant closes his doors. It makes little sense 5 years later to still have their merchant page so why would removing them from your site in any way hurt your site? I could redirect forever but that makes little sense. What makes sense to me is keeping the page for a while with an explanation and options for 'similar' products, and then eventually putting in a 404. I would think the eventual dropping out of the index actually REDUCES the overall link juice (ie less pages), so there is no harm in using a 404 in this way. It also is a way to avoid the site just getting bigger and bigger and having more and more 'bad' user experiences over time. Am I looking at it wrong? ps I've included this in 'link building' because it is related in a sense -- link 'paring'.

What Happens If a Hreflang Sitemap Doesn't Include Every Language for Missing Translated Pages?
As we are building a hreflang sitemap for a client, we are correctly implementing the tag across 5 different languages including English. However, the News and Events section was never translated into any of the other four languages. There are also a few pages that were translated into some but not all of the 4 languages. Is it good practice to still list out the individual non-translated pages like on a regular sitemap without a hreflang tag? Should the hreflang sitemap include the hreflang tag with pages that are missing a few language translations (when one or two language translations may be missing)? We are uncertain if this inconsistency would create a problem and we would like some feedback before pushing the hreflang sitemap live.

Should I 'nofollow' links between my own sites?
We have five sites which are largely unrelated but for cross-promotional purpose our company wishes to cross link between all our sites, possibly in the footer. I have warned about potential consequences of cross-linking in this way and certainly don't want our sites to be viewed as some sort of 'link ring' if they all link to one another. Just wondering if linking between sites you own really is that much of an issue and whether we should 'nofollow' the links in order to prevent being slapped with any sort of penalty for cross-linking.

Is there any negative SEO effect of having comma's in URL's?
Hello, I have a client who has a large ecommerce website. Some category names have been created with comma's in - which has meant that their software has automatically generated URL's with comma's in for every page that comes beneath the category in the site hierarchy. eg. 1 : http://shop.deliaonline.com/store/music,-dvd-and-games/dvds-and-blu_rays/ eg. 2 : http://shop.deliaonline.com/store/music,-dvd-and-games/dvds-and-blu_rays/action-and-adventure/ etc... I know that URL's with comma's in look a bit ugly! But is there 'any' SEO reason why URL's with comma's in are any less effective? Kind Regs, RB
